Andrea

Meet Andrea, a dedicated pediatric speech therapist with over 9 years of experience in the education field, working with children ranging from preschool age through high school. Andrea specializes in articulation, literacy, and building strong language foundations through engaging books and playful interactions.
 
Andrea holds a Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Ithaca College (2013), a Master's in Teaching Childhood and Special Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College (2015), and a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from SUNY Fredonia (2017). Andrea began her career as a classroom teacher in an 8:1:2 ABA-structured classroom for students with neurodivergent profiles. This teaching background continues to shape her therapeutic approach, blending educational strategies with speech and language goals to create a holistic, supportive environment for children to thrive.
 
Since earning her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, Andrea has worked extensively with middle and high school students with learning disabilities and social-emotional challenges. Her work has focused on developing social skills, enhancing pragmatic language abilities, and preparing students for academic success through Regents test preparation and college readiness support. Currently, Andrea provides targeted support to school aged children of all abilities including: developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC,) and social-emotional challenges. In addition, Andrea has played an integral role in the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) intervention and evaluation processes after school hours, ensuring comprehensive care and support for students in need.
 
Andrea is trained in Lindamood-Bell "Seeing Stars" and familiar with Orton-Gillingham structured reading programs approach, strengthening her expertise in supporting students with reading difficulties. Andrea is PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) trained and will be PROMPT certified by 2025. This multi-sensory approach further enhances her expertise, enabling her to utilize tactile-kinesthetic cues to support the development of speech motor control and articulation skills.
 
In her free time, Andrea enjoys spending time with her nephew Teddy, walking her dog Lola, and crocheting. During the summer break, Andrea travels to Greece with her family and relaxes at Lake George.

Meet Melissa, an enthusiastic speech language pathologist with over twelve years of experience in the field.  Working with children from preschool through elementary age, Melissa specializes in language development, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and fostering communication skills through playful, child-led interactions.
 
Melissa earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology, with a minor in Business from St. Joseph’s University (2005), followed by a Masters of Arts degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Hofstra University (2012). Although she began her Speech Language Pathology career later in life (at the ripe old age of 29), Melissa believes this has given her a unique advantage to bring a wealth of experience, insight, and maturity to each of her therapy sessions, and has enhanced her understanding, empathy, and connections with her students and their families.  
 
Melissa currently provides specialized support to elementary-aged children of all abilities.  Her caseload consists of children with developmental disabilities, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) needs, and challenges in social and emotional development. Melissa is recognized as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).  She plays a key role in implementing and monitoring interventions that assist individuals improve behaviors and achieve their communication, social, and life skills goals, often through structured, one-on-one interactions
 
Melissa is a PROMPT trained professional (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) and will be completing her full PROMPT certification in 2025. She is dedicated to using evidence-based practices to empower her students to express themselves functionally and confidently, while creating tailored interventions that cater to each individual's unique needs, promoting both growth and self-assurance. 
 
In her free time, Melissa enjoys the company of her two kids, Cooper and Gavin, and her husband Matt.  She loves watching her children participate in their extracurricular activities - playing the drums, soccer and lacrosse.  She spends time during the summer at various beaches in Long Island where she grew up, and she loves attending music concerts with friends and family.
